“ONE THING have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.” Psalm 27:4
“but ONE THING is necessary, Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42
So here I am. Once again to my surprise the Lord has taken me yet again down another path. Many who know me know that I have traveled down many paths and always end up on a different one about every year or so. (haha) But by the grace of God I can see that all those other paths were leading me to where I am today. No I don’t mean this physical location, but I do mean where my heart is abiding (in Christ Jesus) . I am consumed with a passion to know God and to pour out my love on him all the days of my life. I am truly desiring ONE THING. I know that if you are new in my life you may not fully understand where life has taken me, but I know that I have arrived where the Lord desires me to be… and that is before him day and night.
I am now a full time missionary with the IHOP-AC. (International House of Prayer- Alamance County) So you ask what kind of missionary lives in Burlington, NC? Well I will do my best to answer that question. The call on this new breed of missionary is simple. It is a call to be an INTERCESSOR. When we think of missionaries today we think of two most common: Teacher/ Evangelist or Mercy deed missionaries. Well in these last days the Lord is raising up a new breed of missionaries who are lovesick and passionate about pursuing his heart. These missionaries will be the what fuel the great end time harvest. (1 Peter 4:7) We are called to have clear minds and to be watchful in our prayers. We know that the Lord is coming and we know that when we cry out for the Lord’s justice, his justice will come. Look at the picture of Anna in Luke 2:36- 38. She was a woman who dedicated her life to ministering to the Lord night and day for 60 years for the justice of God to come. Guess what? The Lord came in the form of the messiah. She ushered in the first coming of the Son of man. (Jesus) So we are called to do the same to usher in the justice of the Lord. The second coming of the bridegroom Jesus.
As an Intercessory Missionary I would first like to share with you what the word Intercession means:
Intercession- to go or pass between; to act between parties with a view to reconcile those who differ or contend; to interpose; to mediate or make intercession; mediation
Mediate- between two extremes; to interpose between parties as the equal friend of each; to negotiate between persons at variance with a view to reconciliation; to mediate a peace; intercession
So we can see that these two terms are linked and cannot be one with out the other. So you ask what does an Intercessory Missionary do? Please return to the previous definitions. I am called to be a representative of Jesus Christ on this earth. I know that according to the Holy Scriptures that there were great men of faith called to lifestyles of just that. I am stepping out in faith knowing that this is the calling on my life. I am to be a laborer. I am called to be an Intercessor. I am called to be a womb for Holy Spirit to birth change in. I am called to cry out for heaven to invade the earth and for the glory of the Father in Christ Jesus. (Matt. 6:9-13)
I truly believe that there are men and women who are called by God to usher in his will. I look at the biblical examples of Elijah. I see his great faith in our God and the calling on his life. (see James 5:17-18)
The only logical answer to the question of why Elijah needed to pray is simply that God has chosen to work through people. Even when the Lord initiates something, He still needs us to ask.
If you don’t follow, this may help: “And I have searched for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. Thus I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath; their way I have brought upon their heads,” Declares the Lord God (Ezekiel 22:30-31)
I am called by God to be this man. I am called to stand in the gap, to make intercession for the land that we live in. I have been called to oppose the kingdom of darkness and make clear the victory of Christ Jesus and the good news of the Kingdom of Heaven.
As a missionary I will be in the prayer room for about 8- 10 hours a day monday through friday. We will also be spending our down time releasing what God has given us to those in this region and where ever else God calls us. We have a focus on ending abortion in the land for the injustice that has been taken place for past 30 plus years. We also have a burden just as Christ did to love the least of these. (matt. 25:45) We will be consecrating ourselves to the Lord alone for His service and His will. We understand that first we must Love God- the first commandment and then Love People- the second greatest commandment. Apart from loving God first, we can even think that we can love people like He has. There must first be a revelation (an un-veiling) to this truth of his love so that we can love like he does.
This is the calling and this is the call that I am answering. I pray that this has encouraged you greatly and If there is any way I can interceed for you, please let me know. I will stand in the gap for you if you would only let me. I love you all. Be blessed as you live to bless God.
